Week of  September 30^th  –  October 4^th:  

 

Dear Members of the MHA PS 65x Community:

 

 Its official, Autumn is upon us: cold mornings, warm afternoons. 

 

New this week is the Morning procedures. 

·         Students will be allowed into the auditorium about 7:55 a.m. 

·         Teachers are to meet their students in the auditorium by 8:00 a.m.

·         School Yard gates will be closed at 8:00 a.m.  Late arrivals will have to enter through the main entrance.  Ms. Myrna and Ms. Ross will be at the school yard to receive bus students.

·         Late arrivals:  Ms. Joann will assist with escorting the PreK and Kindergarten students from the main entrance into their classrooms.

 

Reminder:

·         Teachers attending workshops out of the building are to email the grade facilitator, Ms. Gonzalez and Me their lesson plan for the substitute teacher, by 3 p.m. the day before the date of the workshop. 

·         Please continue to discuss the PBIS matrix in all of the classes (including Enrichment classes) to ensure the safety of all MHA members

·         Technology Prep periods will be conducted in the classrooms (Push-In) with Ms. Banks for the month of September 2013. 

·         Administrative class walk-throughs will commence this month; as to not interrupt the lesson, please have your lesson plan available for our review.  Please refer to the Teacher Resource Page at the MHA website for Lesson Plan Template created with the Common Core and Danielson Framework components/expectations.

·         Dismissal procedures:   All student-pick up are to enter through the school yard, Cypress Avenue gate.  Students that are not picked up by 2:25 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. will be taken to the assigned tables in the cafeteria. The teachers are to have a typed written student list with the names of the students that they are leaving in the cafeteria highlighted for Ms. Jackie or Ms. Tracy.

·         All adults are to exit through the school yard.

 

The Bronx Ensemble Arts Theater Auditions were held last week.  I expect to notify those students of their acceptance by October 1^st.  Thank you for your assistance and informing the students and obtaining the permission slips on my behalf.  The Theater Program is scheduled to begin Friday, October 4^th.  Only the selected students are to be escorted to the Auditorium on Friday, October 4^th at 2:20 p.m.

 

New this week will be the Basketball tryouts for all third, fourth and fifth grade students.  Please see Mr. Adler for more details and permission slips.  Please assist Mr. Adler in reminding the students to return the permission slips by Tuesday, October 1^st. Thank you.

 

Friday, Ms. Gonzalez will be hosting the “Sit, Sip & Chat” Parent Meeting at 8:30 a.m. in the Cafeteria.  Please remind your parents and your students to tell their parents to attend this event.

·         Staff PD will be conducted in the Powers’ Side gymnasium at 2:25 p.m. prompt.

·         Building Safety Committee meeting at 3p.m. in room 207.

 

Tuesday, October 1, 2013:

·         Common Planning Sessions:

o   Enrichment Teachers:  8:00 a.m. in room 502.

o   First Grade Teachers:  12:20 p.m. in room 312.

o   Third Grade Teachers: 8:55 a.m. in room 410.

o   Special Ed Articulation:  9:45 a.m. in room 508.

·         2:20 p.m. prompt dismissal for students in PreK-2 grades.

o   Extended Day for students in grades 3-5:

• PreK, Kindergarten, 1^st Grade, 2^nd Grade and Enrichment Teachers please be prompt to your class – 2:25 p.m. if there is an unforeseen delay, please contact Ms. Gonzalez, Ms. Hunt or Mr. Adler immediately.
• All Teachers are to dismiss the third, fourth and fifth grade students in the school yard at 3:15 p.m. together.
