Our sincerest thanks to the PS 65X staff for the understanding and assistance you provided to your fellow colleagues in this time of change.  You’ve realized the importance of space our kindergarteners and second graders need in order to maximize their education and social skills, by offering your guidance, assistance and, more importantly, your optimism towards the teachers that had to abruptly change their routine.  We could not have succeeded without your support.  Thank you.

 

An updated organization sheet, master prep schedule, and program card are attached hereto for your review.  Please note that the changes are to take affect Tuesday, October 11th, 2011.  The program has allotted for the additional K and 2nd grade classes which we hope to have in effect by the beginning of October 17th, 2011. 

 

These days are crucial to the development of our children and we must do all we can to help provide a smooth transition for these students.  Accordingly:

 

·         Teachers are to review classroom expectations with their students.

 

·         Students are to be ready with their math, science or reading notebooks for the Math, Science or Library Enrichment teachers, respectively, prior to the teacher’s arrival.  The promethean/smartboard should be on and the remote control, pens, etc. accessible for use.

 

·         We are to be cognizant of the time.  We are to synchronize our watches, clocks to the Wall clock in the office. We are to return from our prep promptly to allow the Enrichment teacher to travel to the next class.

 

·         Ms. Gonzalez will conduct a parent meeting for the Kindergarten and first grade parents on Tuesday, October 11th at 2:20 p.m.   Accordingly, these classes are to be brought to the auditorium by 2:15 p.m.  Students that take the bus are to be brought to the cafeteria to Ms. Ross. 

 

·         Ms. Gonzalez will conduct a parent meeting for the second grade parents on Wednesday, October 12th, 2011 at 2:20 p.m.  The second grade teachers are to bring their students to the auditorium by 2:15 p.m.  Students that take the bus are to be brought to the cafeteria to Ms. Ross.

 

Teachers are to bring the school assigned laptops to school/class daily.  The laptops are provided to allow you to integrate technology with your daily lessons.

 

Drama Club:  There are 9 slots available.  3rd and 4th Grade teachers:  Please nominate students that may not have had an opportunity, but are interested, in participating in the club.  Notify Ms. Hunt by end of Tuesday, October 11th in order to receive the permission slips. 

 

For the Week of October 11th – 14th, 2011

1.      Tuesday, October 11th:

a)      ARIS Data PD with Ms. Hunt –  Teachers are to bring your laptops.

i.      8:45 am – Kindergarten in room 204

ii.     9:30 am – First Grade in room 313

iii.    11:00 am – Fifth Grade in room 509

b)      b.      Kindergarten & 1st grade teachers are to bring the students to the auditorium by 2:15 p.m. and will not be able to assist with the extended day program for this day.

c)      c.      ASPIRA begins today.

 

2.      Wednesday, October 12th:

a)      ARIS Data PD with Ms. Hunt – Teachers are to bring your laptops

a.       8:45 am – Second Grade in room 411

b.      9:30 am – Third Grade in room 413 (2nd Session).

c.       1:45 am – Fourth Grade in room 504

b)      Second grade teachers are to bring the students to the auditorium by 2:15 p.m. and will not be able to assist with the extended day program for this day.

 

3.      Thursday, October 13th:

DRAMA Club for the selected 3rd and 4th Grade Students Commences at 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. in the auditorium

 

4.      Friday, October 14th:

a)      8:45 – 9:30 am Our First Assembly.  Please bring your students to the auditorium by 8:45 a.m.

b)      PPT Meeting will be rescheduled to proceed at 10:30 a.m. in room 404.

c)      DRAMA Club for the selected 3rd and 4th Grade Students at 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

 

Looking Ahead:

1.           Bulletin Boards are due October 18th, 2011.  Please refer to the Staff Handbook for Guidelines.

2.           Second Grade Swimming: Commences Tuesday, October 18th and Wednesday, October 19th.

3.           Parent ARIS workshop: Wednesday, October 26th, 2011 at 9 am and 5 pm

4.           Crazy Hat Day Parade:  Thursday, October 27th, 2011 – 1:25 p.m. – 2:20 p.m.

5.           Steel Pans for 3rd Grade Students: October 31st, 2011.
