Dear Members of the MHA PS 65x Community:

 

This week, Ms. Tracy O’Blines will be in room 102 supervising the Book Fair.  Yippie!!!  The Book Fair is scheduled to open on Wednesday, November 13th.  Please look at the schedule for the time that you are to bring your class to room 102.  Please be prompt. Student report card grades and comments are to be entered via the STARS website (https://www.nycenet.edu/starsclassroom/Default.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fstarsclassroom%2fTeacher%2fTeacherClasses.aspx).  This Website must be accessed through Internet Explorer.  Report cards will be printed the morning of Wednesday, November 13th

 

Additionally, we encourage all MHA staff members to check their NYCDOE and MHA email accounts daily for up to date information and deadline notices. 

 

Friday is “wear blue” day.  Please assist your students in creating (coloring, etc.) paraphernalia that they can proudly wear on Friday.

Reminder:

·         Teachers attending workshops out of the building are to email the grade facilitator, Ms. Gonzalez and Me their lesson plan for the substitute teacher, by 3 p.m. the day before the date of the workshop.  Additionally, log on to Sub Central and order a sub-teacher ASAP.

·         Students will be allowed into the auditorium approximately 7:55 a.m. 

·         Teachers are to meet their students in the auditorium by 8:00 a.m.

·         Please continue to discuss the PBIS matrix in all of the classes (including Enrichment classes) to ensure the safety of all MHA members

·         Technology Prep periods and Music (Mr. Chen) Prep periods will be conducted in the classrooms (Push-In) for the month of November 2013. 

·         Administrative class walk-throughs will continue this month; as to not interrupt the lesson, please have your lesson plan available for our review.  Please refer to the Teacher Resource Page at the MHA website for Lesson Plan Template created with the Common Core and Danielson Framework components/expectations.

·         Teachers that have Breakfast in the Classroom and Fresh Fruit:  Please do not return or throw out any of the food.  Instead, please send the extra food to Ms. Jackie in the main office (ext 2053).  The carry bag and tray must stay inside the classroom until the Cafeteria Designee arrives and requests the bag or tray.

·         Please be sure to notify both Ms. T. Rivera and Mr. Adler of any students that are on your roster but have not attended school or with more than two (2) days of absences.  Additionally, please ensure that you are in possession of the cumulative folder of each child that is present in your classroom.

Tuesday, November 12, 2013: 

 

·         Attendance Assembly

·         Classroom Teachers, please be sure to review the PBIS Matrix prior to taking your students to all of the enrichment programs.

·         Common Planning Sessions:

o   Enrichment Teachers:  8:00 a.m. in room 502.

o   PreK Teachers: 8:55 a.m. in room 501 (to be continued into room 212.)

o   Special Ed Articulation:  9:45 a.m. in room 508.

o   Third Grade Teachers:  1:00 p.m. in room 501

·         Attendance  Committee meeting at 1:30 p.m. in room 207

·         2:20 p.m. prompt dismissal for students in PreK-2 grades.

o   Extended Day for students in grades 3-5:

  • PreK, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade and Enrichment Teachers please be prompt to your class – 2:25 p.m. if there is an unforeseen delay, please contact Ms. Gonzalez, Ms. Hunt or Mr. Adler immediately.
  • All Teachers are to dismiss the third, fourth and fifth grade students in the school yard at 3:15 p.m. together.

o   Cheerleading and Basketball Practice in the Power’s side gymnasium: 3:15 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.

Teachers:  Please escort the selected students from your class into the gymnasium as you are dismissing your students for the day.

 

Wednesday, November 13, 2013:

 

·         Ms. Slater of  CFN 203, will be in the building.

·         Classroom Teachers, please be sure to review the PBIS Matrix prior to taking your students to all of the enrichment programs.

  • Parent Math Workshop with Ms. Gonzalez:
  • Common Planning:
    • Kindergarten Teachers: 12:20 p.m. in room 501 (to be continued into room 204.)
    • Fifth Grade Teachers:  9:50 a.m. in room 501

·         Swim4Life: Class 2-408 12:00 p.m.

·         2:20 p.m. prompt dismissal for students in PreK-2 grades.

o   Extended Day for students in grades 3-5:

o   Second Grade Teachers:  9:00 a.m. room 501

o   PPT/SBST Members:  8:50 a.m. in the Library

o   First Grade Teachers:  12:15 p.m. in room 501

·         Swim4Life: Classes 2-411 & 2-413 12:00 p.m.

·         2:20 p.m. prompt dismissal for all students.

·         Bronx Ensemble Theater Arts After-School Program:  2:20 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.

Teachers:  Please escort the selected students from your class into the auditorium as you are dismissing your students for the day.

·         Reading Café After-School Program with Ms. Santiago, Ms. Joseph and Ms. S. Rivera: 2:20 p.m. – 4:40 p.m.  Teachers:  Please escort the select students from your classroom to the cafeteria as you are dismissing your students for the day.
